Meet Glennette Nelson

Hi, I’m Glennette Nelson.

I’m a playwright, published author, educator, and the founder of Broken For Purpose, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young people discover healing, hope, and purpose through creative arts.

My story didn’t begin with easy circumstances. Like many of the youth I serve today, I know what it feels like to face rejection, trauma, and uncertainty. Those experiences could have defined my life, but instead they became the foundation for my purpose. Today, I use storytelling to help others realize that their past does not have to determine their future.

For more than two decades, I’ve worked with adolescents in a variety of settings, including psychiatric care, family engagement, mentoring, and education. Those experiences have taught me that every young person deserves someone who believes in them, listens to them, and creates a safe place for them to grow. 

Writing has always been one of the ways I make sense of the world. As a published author and playwright, I create stories that spark conversations, inspire healing, and remind people they are not alone. Whether I’m writing children’s books, producing stage plays, or leading creative arts programs, my goal is the same: to help people find their voice and walk confidently in their purpose.

When I’m not writing or teaching, you’ll probably find me planning community events, mentoring youth, spending time with family and friends, or hanging out with my two dogs, Samson and Cocoa.

I believe every scar has a story, every story has power, and every life has purpose. I’m honored you’re here, and I hope something you find here encourages you to keep moving forward.
